About Initiative for Better Health

Initiative for Better Health (IBH) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to saving lives, promoting health and improving living conditions of underprivileged and vulnerable young people and women through mobilization, skilling, linkages and advocacy.

IBH was founded in 2015 to, among other things, support and build the capacity of individuals, households and communities affected by socio-economic difficulties and violations in urban slums, and remote rural, hard-to-reach areas of Uganda. IBH works with, supplements, strengthens and engages state and non-state actors and institutions to optimize and improve access to health care services and enable all population groups to realize the highest standard of health.

IBH has the strengths, credibility, and is grounded in communities offering them the opportunity to make a real difference in improving the health and right of youth, women, and families in Uganda through education and training of health service professionals, communities, local leaders and advocacy to influence policies, laws and demand for utilization of quality health care services.

This Strategic Plan is therefore the result of consultative recommendations and findings that have culminated in the consensus building among stakeholders to own this document and commitment to use it and implement programs based on the strategic plan.
